POSITION: SPED Life Skills Teacher
LOCATION: Lander Middle School
SALARY: $49,875 minimum (based on 2024-25 salary schedule); full benefits
CONTRACT: Full-time, 185-day contract
START DATE: August 2025

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must hold, or be eligible to hold, Wyoming certification in special education with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree. Must be able to lift 50 pounds in order to transfer or restrain students and complete the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training. Other desired qualifications include: Ability to work well with students with cognitive disabilities and multiple disabilities; ability to work well with other teachers, staff, and parents; ability to supervise paraprofessionals; flexible; organized; able to take initiative; computer-skilled; willingness to participate in planning meetings and district trainings; and willingness to grow professionally.

DESCRIPTION: This position will provide quality instructional services to meet the needs of students with a variety of handicapping conditions; modify the general education curriculum for special-needs students, based upon a variety of instructional techniques and technologies; instruct students in daily living skills required for independent maintenance and self-sufficiency, such as hygiene, safety, and food preparation; employ special educational strategies and techniques during instruction to improve the development of sensory and perceptual motor skills, language, cognition, and memory; provide assistive devices, supportive technology, and assistance accessing facilities such as restrooms; supervise paraprofessionals; meet with general ed teachers to ensure that IEP-requirements are being met and to obtain information about student performance; meet all legal requirements and submit all required paperwork, documentation, monthly reports; and attend all required professional development activities and meetings.
