The Fremont Symphony Orchestra is presenting a program called “Timeless Tales,” according to Music Director, Rebecca Murdock. The concert will be performed at the Lander Valley High School auditorium at 7 pm on Saturday, March 15 and tickets are available online at www.FremontSymphonyOrchestra.org.
The FSO will feature the Lander Valley High School Choir under the direction of Dr. Susan Vollbrecht and the CWC Chorale under Dr. Jeremy Cochran’s direction as guests. The more than 100 musicians will perform "The Lion King Suite for Choir and Orchestra" by Elton John and arranged by Crafton Beck. According to Murdock the music was not easy to attain as the fires raged in Los Angeles when it was supposed to be shipped out by Disney.
In addition to the Lion King, the FSO will perform “Orpheus in the Underworld Overture” by Jacques Offenbach, “Hansel and Gretel” by Engelbert Humperdinck, “Samson and Deliah – My Heart at thy Sweet Voice” by Camille Saint-Saens, “Meditation from Thais” by Jules Massenet (featuring violin soloist Mike Titzer), “The Creatures from Prometheus Pastorale” by Ludwig von Beethoven, “Themes from Sorcerer's Apprentice” by Paul Dukas. Rounding out the program is the Irish classic, “Rob Roy Overture” by Hector Berlioz.
The FSO is grateful for the financial support of the Lander Community Foundation, LOR Foundation, Lander District Recreation Board, and many individual contributors.
