POSITION: Music Paraprofessional - ½ Time Employee
LOCATION: Gannett Peak Elementary (K-3)
SALARY: $18.43/hr minimum (based on the 2025-2026 salary schedule), 3.5 hours per day, 17.5 hours/week Daily schedule: 7:45 am-11:15 am
START DATE: August 17, 2026

DESCRIPTION: The K–3 Music Paraprofessional supports the elementary music program by working collaboratively with the certified music teacher to provide engaging and well-managed music instruction for students in grades K–3. Under the direction of the music teacher, this individual will independently supervise and lead music classes for 2nd and 3rd grade students while maintaining a positive, orderly, and student-centered learning environment. Because multiple music classes may occur simultaneously, the paraprofessional must be able to work independently in a separate classroom while following lesson plans and instructional guidance provided by the music teacher.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Supervise and lead music classes for 2nd and 3rd grade students during scheduled instructional periods
● Implement music lessons and activities designed and provided by the certified music teacher
● Maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom environment that supports student learning and participation
● Follow established classroom routines, expectations, and instructional procedures
● Support student engagement through singing, movement, rhythm activities, games, and other music-based learning experiences
● Collaborate regularly with the music teacher regarding lesson implementation, student needs, and classroom management
● Assist with preparation, organization, and clean-up of instructional materials and music classroom spaces
● Reinforce positive student behavior and school-wide expectations
● Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and school matters
● Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or administration
QUALIFICATIONS:
● High school diploma or equivalent required; must pass the District’s basic skills test
● Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred
● Interest in music, performing arts, or elementary education preferred
● Ability to confidently supervise and manage groups of students independently
● Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
● Ability to follow lesson plans and instructional direction consistently
● Dependable, flexible, and collaborative team member
● Ability to maintain professionalism and positive relationships with students and staff
