Central Wyoming College invites the community to spend a fall morning at the Alpine Science Institute (ASI) Student Farm during its Fall U-Pick and Compost Fundraiser on Saturday, September 26, from 9 a.m. to noon.

The event will give visitors an opportunity to experience the student farm firsthand while picking fresh flowers, tomatoes and other seasonal produce and stocking up on locally produced compost for their home gardens. Proceeds from the event will support the ASI Student Farm and CWC’s Regenerative Agriculture Program.

U-pick tickets are $20 and include a small flower bouquet, tomatoes and other produce available for harvest that day.

Dirt Works WY compost will also be available for purchase. Compost pricing is:

• Tractor bucket load: $40
• Bag: $10
• 5-gallon bucket: $5

Bags will be available on site. Those purchasing compost by the bucket should bring their own 5-gallon bucket or other container. Other container sizes are welcome and will be measured to determine the appropriate price. Buckets will not be provided.

Fall is an excellent time to apply compost to gardens and growing spaces, allowing organic matter to begin improving the soil ahead of the next growing season.

Beyond providing fresh produce and compost for local gardeners, the fundraiser supports the hands-on educational work taking place at the ASI Student Farm. The farm provides CWC students with opportunities to learn about regenerative food systems, soil health and sustainable agricultural practices while producing food and connecting with the surrounding community.

Families and community members are encouraged to attend, explore the farm and enjoy a fall morning at the CWC Alpine Science Institute.

The Fall U-Pick and Compost Fundraiser will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, September 26, at Central Wyoming College’s Alpine Science Institute near Lander.

Advance registration and payment are required for U-pick tickets. Participants may register online, by calling CWC Lander at 307-332-3394, or in person at 120 Enterprise Boulevard in Lander. Credit card payments are subject to processing fees. Cash and check payments are also accepted.
