First Responder Render Aid
Objective
First responders will be able to use personal protective equipment (PPE) and situational awareness, while identifying a life-threatening medical emergency, alert EMS and render aid to self or others to preserve life until help arrives.
Lecture
PPE, proper application and removal to prevent exposure.
Basic Life Support (BLS) review, signs and symptoms of a heart attack, stroke, or full arrest with initiation of CPR.
Individual first aid kit (IFAK) recommended contents and how to use them.
Stop the Bleed, wound packing, pressure dressing and tourniquet application.
Proficiency
Participants will be able to put on and take off the appropriate PPE without self-contamination, verbalize scene safety, identify a life-threatening medical emergency and select and perform the appropriate intervention until professional medical help arrives.
Class time for lecture and hands on is 2 hours. Instructors are Classic Air Medical Fight Nurses and Flight Paramedics. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
