DESCRIPTION:First Responder Render Aid\n\nObjective                                                             \n\nFirst responders will be able to use personal protective equipment (PPE) and situational awareness\, while identifying a life-threatening medical emergency\, alert EMS and render aid to self or others to preserve life until help arrives.\n\n \n\nLecture\n\nPPE\, proper application and removal to prevent exposure. \n\nBasic Life Support (BLS) review\, signs and symptoms of a heart attack\, stroke\, or full arrest with initiation of CPR.\n\nIndividual first aid kit (IFAK) recommended contents and how to use them.\n\nStop the Bleed\, wound packing\, pressure dressing and tourniquet application.\n\n \n\nProficiency\n\nParticipants will be able to put on and take off the appropriate PPE without self-contamination\, verbalize scene safety\, identify a life-threatening medical emergency and select and perform the appropriate intervention until professional medical help arrives.\n\n \n\nClass time for lecture and hands on is 2 hours.
