Description
Position Summary
Wyoming PBS is the state’s only statewide public television network, serving communities across Wyoming with trusted
local news, educational programming, and public affairs content. The Wyoming PBS Foundation exists to sustain and
grow that mission through private philanthropy and corporate partnerships.
The Corporate Underwriting & Development Officer is a full-time role responsible for securing corporate underwriting,
building business partnerships, and supporting the mid-level donor pipeline across Wyoming. This position offers a
meaningful opportunity to connect Wyoming’s business and philanthropic communities to public media that serves
every corner of the state. The role involves regular statewide travel (approximately 25% of time) to meet with partners
and donors in person – ideal for a relationship-driven fundraiser who thrives on being out in the field.
Examples of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Corporate Underwriting & Foundation Relations (50% of time)
1. Underwriting Prospecting & Development: Identify, cultivate, and close new corporate underwriting agreements for Wyoming PBS programming. Build and maintain an active pipeline of prospects from initial contact through signed
contracts and renewals.
2. Partnership Package Development: Design comprehensive corporate partnership opportunities beyond traditional
underwriting, including event sponsorships, digital marketing integrations, and community engagement packages.
3. Underwriter Stewardship: Maintain active relationships with current underwriters through regular contact,
fulfillment reporting, and renewal cultivation to maximize retention and revenue growth.
4. Business Community Engagement: Attend chamber events, business networking functions, and industry meetings
to build and expand corporate relationships throughout Wyoming.
Major Gift Fundraising (35% of time)
1. Prospect Research & Qualification: Identify and research major gift prospects using wealth screening tools and
database analysis. Collaborate with the Executive Director to prioritize and qualify prospects for cultivation.
2. Donor Cultivation: Develop and execute personalized cultivation strategies for major gift prospects through
personal visits, events, and stewardship activities throughout Wyoming.
3. Solicitation Support: Conduct major gift asks at appropriate levels in coordination with the Executive Director,
following best practices in fundraising methodology.
4. Donor Stewardship: Implement stewardship plans for major donors to ensure long-term retention and upgrade
potential.
Donor Pipeline Development (15% of time)
1. Mid-Level Donor Advancement: Partner with the Membership Coordinator to identify members ($250–$999) ready
for personalized cultivation and advancement toward major gift consideration.
2. Prospect Tracking: Maintain timely contact reports and prospect notes in the fundraising database to support
pipeline visibility and team coordination.
3. Event Support: Participate in donor cultivation events and recognition activities throughout Wyoming to build
relationships and advance prospects.
4. Operate within the framework established by Wyoming PBS Foundation’s policies, procedures, and practices.
5. Perform other reasonably related duties as directed or assigned.
Typical Qualifications
Position Specifications and Minimum Qualifications
Experience
Two to five (2-5) years of experience in corporate fundraising, underwriting sales, sponsorship development, or
related relationship-based sales or development role.
Licenses/Certifications
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and ability to travel throughout Wyoming as needed (approximately
25% of time).
Successfully pass background check as condition of employment.
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, nonprofit management, or a related field; equivalent combinations
of education and experience will be considered
CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) certification or willingness to pursue
Corporate sponsorship and underwriting experience, particularly in public media
Experience in public media or arts/culture fundraising
Familiarity with Wyoming donor landscape and networks
Experience with Rev CRM, Raiser's Edge or similar donor database systems
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Fundraising Expertise: Proven track record of meeting or exceeding annual fundraising goals with demonstrated
success in major gift solicitation.
2. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to make compelling cases for
support to diverse audiences.
3. Relationship Building: Exceptional interpersonal skills for building and maintaining relationships with donors,
corporate partners, and community leaders.
4. Database Proficiency: Familiarity with donor database systems such as Rev CRM, Raiser’s Edge, or similar platforms
is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
5. Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies for both individual and
corporate prospects.
6. Travel Requirements: Ability and willingness to travel throughout Wyoming (approximately 25% of time) for donor
meetings, underwriting visits, and cultivation activities.
7. Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends for donor meetings and special events.
8. Goal Orientation: Strong focus on achieving measurable fundraising results and performance targets.
9. Professional Presentation: Ability to represent Wyoming PBS Foundation professionally in various business and
community settings.
10. Project Management: Ability to manage multiple prospects and campaigns simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
11. Networking Skills: Comfort with attending business networking functions, chamber events, and industry meetings.
12. Stewardship Focus: Understanding of donor stewardship principles and ability to implement retention strategies.
Level of Supervision
This position operates under the direct supervision of the Executive Director of the Wyoming PBS Foundation with
significant independence in managing donor relationships and corporate partnerships.
Working Environment

Equipment Used
Standard office equipment including personal computer, telephone systems, donor database software, presentation
equipment, and mobile devices. Motor vehicle for extensive statewide travel.
Physical Requirements
Tasks require variety of physical activities, which do not generally involve muscular strain, such as walking,
standing, sitting, reaching and light lifting. Regular talking, hearing and seeing required in the normal course of
performing the job. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity required to perform computer functions and presentation
activities. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, discriminating
thinking and creative problem solving. Ability to operate a motor vehicle for extensive travel throughout Wyoming.
Environmental Conditions
Work involves regular travel throughout Wyoming (approximately 25% of time), including occasional overnight
stays. Evening and weekend work may be required for donor meetings, cultivation events, and networking activities. Work performed in various settings including office environments, donor homes/businesses, restaurants, and event venues.
