Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Outreach Director, Lander/Alpine Science Institute, the CWC Lander Education Coordinator serves as one of the main points of contact for students, faculty, and community members. Responsible for the overall success of Lander/Alpine Science Institute educational offerings through the support of students, faculty and staff. This position provides support to academic affairs, student, and faculty, as well as the overall operations of Lander Outreach Center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate the credit course schedules for all courses located at the Lander and Alpine Science Institute. Works with division Deans, faculty, department chairs, and division assistants to coordinate division-controlled courses alongside Lander-controlled courses.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of non-credit programs and related activities for Lander and Alpine Science Institute, including staffing, ordering supplies and other materials as necessary, as well as preparation, distribution and advertising of course schedules and course/instructor evaluations.
- Guide and assist students with the college enrollment process, orienting students to college policies, procedures, resources and technology. Help facilitate student learning by ensuring students understand how to effectively and efficiently navigate college processes, build positive relationships and connect to CWC services.
- Responsible for the case management of Alpine Science Institute program majors and other Lander-based students, as needed. Responsibilities include academic advising, career exploration and transfer out of the College. Proactively connect with students to facilitate momentum and success through the course of their time at CWC.
- Interprets placement test results, prior academic history, potential barriers, and other circumstances to determine appropriate course selection for identified students.
- Refers students to faculty advisors, counselors, or other college services as required and develops and implements customized retention strategies for at-risk students.
- Advise prospective CWC Lander/Alpine Science Institute students regarding the college’s admissions, scholarships, financial aid, housing, academic programs and students life.
- Maintain follow up communications with prospective students on an ongoing basis.
- Utilize the college’s database/CRM for prospective student communication and reporting efforts.
- Recruit and hire adjunct faculty for Lander-controlled credit courses and non-credit instructors. Prepare employment documents for adjunct faculty and non-credit instructors as required, including semester and course contracts, hiring authorizations, credential packets, employment forms, etc.
- Provide support and assistance to adjunct faculty, including referral of campus resources and instructional materials. Provide opportunities for training as necessary.
- Work with Outreach Director-Lander/ASI to assist in the monitoring, maintenance, and development of departmental budgets. Maintains and reconciles a department credit card.
- Work with the Outreach Director-Lander/ASI to ensure operations are within budget and process fiscal records including purchase orders, invoices and travel documents as required.
- In collaboration with the Marketing and Public Relations department, maintain and create marketing materials including print and web-based content and social media. Work with the Digital Marketing Manager to update and maintain CWC Lander and Alpine Science Institute webpages as needed.
- Assist Outreach Director-Lander/ASI in using this data to develop, implement and oversee new academic programs for Lander/ASI.
- Process cash receipts for student accounts, facility rentals, non-credit classes and student housing and daily reconciliations for transactions, ensuring cash and receipts are accounted for and deposited correctly. Process electronic check deposits to banks.
- Administer placement tests and student exams. Serve as proctor for other institutional and public tests.
- Serve as the main point of contact for facility booking at CWC Lander. This includes coordinating with other CWC departments for meetings and events, as well as outside organizations. Responsible for coordinating room needs with facilities staff and reserving rooms in AdAstra and CWC Lander facilities Google calendar.
- Coordinates student activities and events through the use of student generated fees.
- Promote credit and non-credit programs with respect to constituents, staff, students, community members, and businesses throughout Fremont County.
- Assist students, faculty and staff with technology related issues.
- Manage physical and aesthetic aspects of work and learning environment.
- Operate within the guidelines set forth in the College’s policies, procedures and practices.
- Perform other reasonably related duties as directed or assigned.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in related discipline from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Experience
Three years professional experience in either higher education or management, preferably in a community college setting.
Equivalency Statement
Equivalent combinations of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may be considered.
