The City of Lander is pleased to announce the installation of new industrial grills at City Park
and North Park. The beloved grills at the Lions Shelter (City Park) and Kiwanis Shelter (North
Park) have served the community for decades—hosting everything from family reunions to
community celebrations—and have now been fully replaced to continue that tradition for years
to come.
This $27,788 improvement project was made possible thanks to a creative idea from a Parks
and Recreation Department employee and community volunteer who wanted to enhance park
facilities for the many groups and non-profit organizations that use them. With support from the
LOR Foundation, the City was able to purchase three new industrial grills—two for the Lions
Shelter and one for the Kiwanis Shelter—along with replacement gas lines. City of Lander staff
completed the installation.
New instructional signage has also been added at each site to help ensure the grills remain in
excellent condition. Park users are asked to:
-Open grill covers before turning knobs to the “on” position.
-Preheat grills for 15 minutes before cooking.
-Turn knobs to the “off” position after use.
-Allow grills to cool completely before closing and locking the covers.
To reserve a park shelter or grill for the upcoming season, please contact the City of Lander
Parks and Recreation Department at (307) 332-4647.
The City of Lander extends its gratitude to the LOR Foundation and to the community members
whose ideas and involvement make projects like this possible. If you have a vision to make
