Special events at the Lander Library

The following events will be taking place this month at the Lander Library:
 
*Three National Theatre productions* recorded live and available to us via high-definition satellite broadcasts Contribution at the door: $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for students.
 
*Travelling Light, a new play by Nicholas Wright  -- Saturday, March 3, 1 PM, Conf. Rms A & B* In a remote village in Eastern Europe, around 1900, the young Motl Mendl is entranced by the flickering silent images on his father’s cinematograph Bankrolled by Jacob, the ebullient local timber merchant, and inspired by Anna, the girl sent to help him make moving pictures of their village, he stumbles on a revolutionary way of storytelling. Forty years on, Motl—now a famed American film director—looks back on his early life and confronts the cost of fulfilling his dreams. Travelling Light is a funny and fascinating tribute to the Eastern European immigrants who became major players in Hollywood’s golden age.

Dominic Cooke, director of the celebrated Royal Court Theatre in London, makes his National Theatre debut directing a new production of Shakespeare's delirious romp through mistaken identity,
 
*She Stoops to Conquer by Oliver Goldsmith -- Saturday, March 31, 1 PM, Conf. Rms A & B* Hardcastle, a man of substance, looks forward to acquainting his daughter with his old pal’s son with a view toward marriage. But thanks to playboy Lumpkin, his prospective son-in-law Marlow mistakes him for an innkeeper and his daughter for the local barmaid. The good news is, while Marlow can barely speak to a woman of quality, he’s a charmer to those of a different stamp.

*. . . and One More Indie Film*
We added one more indie film to our spring line-up because it got such good reviews.
*Bomber, a British film by Paul Cotter, Friday, March 16, 7 PM, Little Theater*
Alistar and Valerie have been planning a special trip to Germany for a very long time. When their son Ross stops by the house to send them off, happenstance turns into an impromptu family road trip of the most tortuous kind. Alistar berates Ross for all that he is not in life, while Valerie tries to keep the peace. It is soon discovered that Alistar's reason for the often comic, sometimes painful trip is to shed a guilt he's been carrying for years. Ultimately, the family learns they need each other more then they imagined.
 
Indie films are free and open to the public. Popcorn and soda served.
