NFIB Webinar: Tips to Prepare for DOL’s New Overtime Rule and Employment Law Changes in 2025

With a new year fast approaching, employers face several important employment law changes thanks to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). The new overtime rule, set to take effect on Jan. 1, 2025, will make millions more workers eligible for overtime pay by increasing the salary threshold for the executive, administrative, and professional (EAP) exemptions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) to $58,656 per year (or $1,128 per week).

The webinar includes:

  • What you need to know about the new overtime rule
  • Quick tips on FLSA protections for nursing mothers
  • Guidelines for DOL’s independent contractor rule
  • Important 2025 state law changes, including paid leave and minimum wage changes
  • Updates on tipped employee rules after federal appeals court vacates DOL’s 80/20/30 rule
Presented by: Elizabeth Milito, Executive Director, NFIB Small Business Legal Center; Holly Wade, Executive Director, NFIB Research Center; and Patrick Moran, Senior Attorney, NFIB Small Business Legal Center.
