Lander Welcomes 1A West Regional Basketball Tournament
February 26–28, Seeks Community Support
Lander is proud to host the 1A West Regional Basketball Tournament February 26–28 at Lander
Valley High School. Twelve schools will bring both men’s and women’s teams to compete for
advancement to the state basketball tournament, and we are excited to welcome athletes,
coaches, families, and fans to our community for the weekend.
With the anticipated influx of visitors, local businesses can expect increased customer traffic
throughout the weekend. The City of Lander encourages residents and business owners to
showcase Lander’s hospitality, community spirit, and the many qualities that make our town a
great place to live and visit. Visiting teams include Burlington, Dubois, Meeteetse, Riverside, St.
Stephens, Ten Sleep, Cokeville, Encampment, Farson-Eden, Ft. Washakie, Little Snake River,
and Saratoga.
Businesses, organizations, and churches are invited to help support the tournament through the
hospitality room. Assistance is needed during lunch on Thursday, lunch and dinner on Friday,
and lunch on Saturday. Each meal will serve approximately 80 coaches, officials, bus drivers,
and volunteers. Those interested may provide food, partner with the school to offer a discounted
meal for the hospitality room, or volunteer time to help host and welcome guests. Contributors
may display signage in the hospitality area and are encouraged to visit with attendees and
share a warm Lander welcome. To participate, please contact Matt George, FCSD #1 Activities
Director, at mgeorge@landerschools.org or (208) 262-6398, or Anne Even at
aeven@landerwy.gov or 332-2870 x113.
In addition to Lander hosting 1A Regionals, the 2A West Regional Tournament will take place
February 26–28 in Riverton, and Lander High School will compete in the 3A West Regional
Tournament in Lovell.
