There's so much fun to have in Lander on the 4th of July! The day begins early at 6 a.m. with the annual half marathon and 5K run/walk. The Lander Senior Center will host their pancake breakfast from 7-9 a.m. The 118th Pioneer Days Parade begins at 10 a.m., followed by the Rotary buffalo barbecue (11 a.m.-2 p.m.) at Lander City Park. The Pioneer Days Rodeo is July 3 & 4 and begins at 6:30 p.m. both nights. Lander city fireworks follows the rodeo at dusk on the 4th. The Bills Family Freedom Festival Fireworks will be the night of Tuesday, July 3.
Tickets for the pancake breakfast are $5 person; the buffalo barbecue is $7 in advance, $8 at the gate, and rodeo tickets are kids 6-12 $3 in advance ($4 at the gate) and adults $7 in advance ($8 at the gate) and all are available at the Chamber office, 160 N. 1st St. Save some $$ and get yours today!
Also, the Bad Boys of Bull Riding are back! The 2nd annual Paxton Cady Memorial Bull Riding is July 4, 6 p.m., south of Lander on Willow Creek Road. There will be mutton bustin, junior steer riding, senior steer riding and chute doggin. The kids can participate in the kids stick horse rodeo, dummy roping, and a boot race too! Also enjoy Indian dancers and Indian sign language to music. Sponsors are Wind Dancer Funeral Home, Faith Fire Ranch, TXI Ranch and Huff Sanitation. Food concession by Willow Creek 4H Club.
