Wild Iris Mountain Sports, Columbia Sportswear, and the International Climbers' Festival team-up to offer a new class designed at introducing new 14- to 18-year-olds to climbing.
About the Learn to Climb
Participants will learn the basics of climbing through bouldering—a style of rock climbing undertaken without ropes in an indoor setting using pads, spotters, and focused instruction.
As participants' skills improve, you will learn advanced movement technique including specific footwork, grip techniques and balance skills. Basic rope systems and belaying will be taught in the second half of the course for future outdoor climbing.
Instructed by BJ Tilden
BJ Tilden had lived and climbed in Lander for more than 15 years, establishing some of the hardest sport climbing routes in the area. BJ has traveled extensively to many world-renowned sport climbing and bouldering areas where he has honed his expertise in the sport. His attention to detail and understanding of climbing movement make him one of the best.
