Blood donation drive at Lander hospital

Lander Regional Hospital is hosting a United Blood Services donation drive on Friday, April 20, 11:00 to 3:00. Please call Laura Emerson at 335-6538 for more information or to schedule an appointment for blood donation.

Right now the country is experiencing a shortage of blood. The U.S. Department of Human Services recommends a community maintain a seven day supply of blood to be able to respond to a disaster or major trauma in their area.  One area of our country strives to keep a just a three day supply.  A Memphis area blood center recently stated: 36-40% of an optimum 3 day supply is considered a pre-critical shortage; 31-35% is a critical shortage; at or below 30% is designated as an extremely critical shortage.  Lifeblood,  a blood center of Memphis, is fluctuating between a critical shortage and an extremely critical shortage. Several areas of the country are canceling elective surgery in order to maintain blood supplies to meet the critical needs of hospital patients and trauma victims.

Please consider donating this precious resource.
