34th Annual Red Desert Audubon Art Show opens

34th Annual Red Desert Audubon Art Show
opens at the Lander Art Center Friday, May 16th with a public reception from 6-8pm

This exhibition of local artists celebrates artwork depicting residential or migratory flora and fauna. Wyoming's plants and wildlife inspires all generations to create artwork. The art making process has the ability to deeply connect the artist to the source of their inspiration. When the inspiration is our natural world, the artist translates what they see and experience of close observations, studies and interaction a tangible and visual connection to the natural environment.
The show is curated through an open call for entries to all artists state-wide. Entrants are grouped by experience or age in four levels: professional, aspiring, youth ages 9 to 12, and youth 8 or under. This year there are entries in all four categories with 25 artists participating.
Judges include LAC members and artists, Marty Brace and Tonya Pepper. Andrea Orabano, biologist for Game and Fish will review all artwork to ensure the Wyoming's native wildlife requirement is met. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places will be awarded in each category and receive cash awards. A grand prize will also be awarded to the best of show. A People's Choice winner will be voted on by attendees of the opening and visitors to the gallery.
