Noble Hotel Manager

As the Noble Hotel Manager, you will work as part of the Rocky Mountain team to support students, instructors, and non-NOLS users at our historic, three-story hotel. You will provide excellent customer service and keep friendly and clean facilities. Throughout the year, you will be responsible for Noble Hotel operations and supervision and during the spring and fall you will also do more hands-on housekeeping and supporting other Rocky Mountain departments. You will supervise housekeepers and the kitchen manager. You will set a fun, welcoming tone, while creating staff and student accountability. You will coordinate facility use by non-NOLS groups to serve the Lander community and generate revenue for the school.

What does a Hotel Manager do?

  • Maintain a welcoming facility for students, staff and the broader NOLS and Lander community.

  • Maintain administrative duties including monitoring the email inbox, creating and updating the digital room chart, and billing guests.

  • Communicate with all Rocky Mountain students before they arrive to start their NOLS course using email, text, and phone to help them understand the travel logistics for their course and ensure they plan to arrive on time. 

  • Hire and supervise up to four housekeepers during the peak summer season.

  • Hire and supervise the kitchen manager. 

  • Work evenings and/or weekends when necessary.

  • Maintain a front desk that provides low-touch and straight-forward check in and check out procedures.

  • Bill guests in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Seek out other hotel users when we have capacity to generate revenue for the school.

  • Housekeep and other hands-on work for other departments during non-peak seasons.

  • Hold students and instructors accountable to be respectful hotel users.

  • Special projects as assigned.

  • Work well interdepartmentally, especially with kitchen and facilities teams.  

  • Assist teammates as time allows in tasks such as sorting mail, tidying, restocking restrooms, and moving laundry along.

What makes a great Hotel Manager at NOLS?

  • Strong written and oral communication skills. 

  • Desire and ability to execute staff supervision, human resources oversight, logistics planning, and event hosting.

In your first 6 months, you will: 

  • Work across departments with other teams to support excellent student outcomes.

  • Hire and supervise housekeepers and other staff to effectively run our summer season.

  • Develop relationships with local entities to use the hotel to generate revenue outside of our peak season.
