Wyoming Arts Summit to Feature Community Events and Concerts

Designed as a professional development conference and networking opportunity for arts advocates, administrators, educators, and artists, the Wyoming Arts Summit will also host a number of free concerts and events that are open to the general public, November 2-3.
The festivities begin with the Wyoming Arts Council’s 50th Anniversary Concert. The show features the Wind River Dancers; Northwest College Studio Singers, featuring guest artist Amanda Taylor; the University of Wyoming Symphony Orchestra, with guest artist Andrew Todd; and Basque Poet and NEA National Heritage Fellow Martin Goicoechea. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 2 at the Lander High School Auditorium.
A pair of concurrent events are set for the following Friday, November 3. A self-guided Art Walk in downtown Lander kicks off at 6 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m. Participating organizations include the Lander Arts Center, Alchemy-An Artists' Cooperative, Potters of the Wind Rivers (POWR), Middle Fork, Sweetwater Studio, Snow Deep Screen Printing and Design, and Fremont County Pioneer Museum.
At the same time, the Arts Council will host an independent music showcase in two different venues. Featuring bands and singer/songwriters from all corners of the Cowboy State, the Wyoming Independent Music Initiative (WIMI) Showcase will play from 7 p.m. to midnight on Friday, November 3.
The showcase was juried by Ben Desoto who is with the Bohemian Foundation Music Initiative. Mr. Desoto is the lead talent buyer for the Bohemian Foundation and is in charge of the musical acts for the New West Fest in Fort Collins, Colo.
