The annual fall concert: “Three Centuries” with music from 3 composers of differing periods: Wolfgang Mozart – The Overture from The Magic Flute (18th Century), Felix Mendelssohn – Symphony No. 5 (19th Century) and Edward Elgar – The Elgar Cello Concerto (20thCentury)
The concert highlights Evan Drachman performing the Elgar Cello Concerto. Evan Drachman, from Baltimore MD, is the founder and Artistic Director of The Piatigorsky Foundation. He combines musical talent with artistic vision to create a rich and varied career. Mr. Drachman spends much of his time performing recitals, concerti and chamber music in the United States and abroad. As Artistic Director of The Piatigorsky Foundation, he has become one of this country’s most respected authorities on the presentation of live classical music to diverse audiences. The Foundation’s mission is to make live classical music a part of the fabric of everyday life for underserved communities throughout the United States. The organization is named for Mr. Drachman’s grandfather, cellist Gregor Piatigorsky.
Fremont Symphony Orchestra performers come from not only Fremont County, but also from several other communities across the state.
The upcoming concert is supported in part by grants from the Lander Community Foundation, the Lander District Recreation Board and area businesses. Housing is supported by the Holiday Inn, the Inn at Lander and Mountain Rose B&B.
