Taught by Nathan Maxon, Attorney at Law, this course will give participants a broad overview of the history, management and laws of Federal Public Lands. Wyoming state lands will also be covered during one session. The course will cover the following: types of federal lands; management of federal lands; history of public land law; jurisdiction and the constitution; challenging agency decisions; environmental laws that apply to federal lands; land exchanges and sales; recent attempts to force the sale of public lands; mining and mineral leasing; timber management; grazing management; wildlife management; recreation management and preservation. Participants will be emailed a reading assignment prior to each session.
