Premier of cycling documentary set for April 28

Wyoming PBS, in partnership with Central Wyoming College (CWC), invites the public to the premiere screening of its newest documentary, “Gravel & Grit: Bridging the Great Divide,” on Tuesday, April 28 at the Robert A. Peck Arts Center Theatre on the CWC campus in Riverton.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with light refreshments, followed by the film screening at 6 p.m. The evening will conclude with a panel discussion featuring filmmaker Kyle Nicholoff and CWC students from the film, offering audience members a unique opportunity to engage directly with participants and hear behind-the-scenes insights.

Attendees will also have a chance to enter a raffle drawing for a purple Surly Karate Monkey Mountain bike, provided by Gannett Peak Sports in Lander. Participants must be present at the event to win.

“This film isn’t about cycling as much as it is about life,” says Nicholoff.

The hour-long documentary follows a team of cyclists from CWC as they traverse 1,000 miles of rugged backcountry terrain along the Continental Divide. From Eureka, Montana, to Atlantic City, Wyoming, the riders push beyond their limits, testing their physical endurance and personal resolve while experiencing the power of nature.

Along the way, the film captures moments of conquering personal fears and steep mountain passes, processing individual and community hardships, and forming bonds that transform how participants see themselves and their potential.

“‘Gravel & Grit’ is, hands down, one of the more amazing projects I’ve had the pleasure to participate in,” says Jacki Klancher, Director of Research and Innovation at the CWC Alpine Science Institute. “The story is heartwarming, the courage shown by these CWC students is spectacular, and behind the scenes, mixed in with magnificent riding and daily adventures, the participants were engaged in an undergraduate scientific research project and earning academic credit. I’m so grateful to Wyoming PBS for telling this Wyoming story, and so proud of all of the participants in this film.”

CWC is proud to serve as an event sponsor, supporting educational storytelling and community engagement through this special premiere event.
