Fire Prevention Week is October 5-11. The Lander Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting their annual open house on Thursday, Oct. 9, 6-8 pm at the Lander Fire Station on the corner of 4th and Garfield streets.
This is your opportunity to get information and see many public safety organizations. There will be smoke detectors and other information to give away. Smoke alarm tips: check batteries once a month to make sure they work; change batteries when you change your clocks in the spring and fall; it the smoke detector is more than 10 years old replace it.
This is also the fire department's annual booster drive. Donations may be made to the Lander Volunteer Fire Department, 240 Lincoln St., Lander WY 82520. Money is used for recruitment and retention of volunteer firefighters and also used to purchase firefighting equipment.
