“Oatmeal Box Cameras” September 26, 2-4pm
The Riverton Museum will host this Bailey Tire/Pit Stop Children’s Exploration Series program on September 26, from 2-4pm.
Today, pretty much everybody carries a great camera with them everywhere they go on their phone. But before the digital photography revolution took off, photos were taken on light sensitive material that had to be processed with chemicals before an image could be seen. In this event, we’ll be learning the basics of photography from ‘back in the day.’ After learning how light passes through a simple pinhole lens and exposes light-sensitive paper, we will be building our own cameras, loading them with that paper, taking unique photos around the museum grounds, and developing them into photographs. This event is best suited for 5th grade students and older.
This event starts at 2:00 PM and should run to about 4:00. Cost is $10 to cover materials.
