SUMMARY:Wyoming Legislature 2024 Joint Judiciary
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of this meeting is to continue the Committee's interim work. The Committee will consider bill drafts regarding law enforcement issues\, the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security and Wyoming Department of Corrections\, the right of appeal for the state in criminal cases\, statutory monetary amounts\, and protection orders. The Committee will discuss information related to peace officer training\, fingerprinting and background checks\, misdemeanor penalties for municipal courts\, and the adoption and foster care system. The Committee will also receive updates from the Wyoming Attorney General's Office and the working group addressing firearms issues. The Committee will review a Wyoming Supreme Court opinion and consider bill drafts forwarded to the Committee from the Mental Health & Vulnerable Adult Task Force.\n\n\n\nThe meeting will be held in person in Cheyenne and remotely with a live video stream available on the Legislature's Website (www.wyoleg.gov). A limited number of participants can sign up to provide public comment virtually for a specified agenda item during the Committee's upcoming meeting. The total amount of time dedicated to virtual public comment is set by the Committee Chairmen per Management Council Policy. Please fill out the public comment form to ensure the Committee knows you intend to provide public comment virtually. Only those who fill out the form to provide public comments virtually and who are e-mailed the Zoom invite from the Legislative Service Office will be permitted into the Zoom meeting to testify.\n\nIndividuals who plan to provide materials to the Committee during the meeting should provide the materials in electronic format to Committee staff and provide sufficient hard copies for members of the Committee\, Committee staff and interested members of the audience.
