JOB TITLE: Executive Director, Lander Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center

JOB TYPE: Full-time salaried position

REPORTS TO: Lander Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center Board of Directors

PURPOSE: To provide executive leadership to the Lander Chamber of Commerce, working closely with the Board of Directors to fulfil the mission of the Lander Chamber of Commerce and promote the member businesses and Lander community.

RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES

  • Assure that the organization’s priorities are responsive to member needs and serve to advance the Chamber’s mission and the area’s economy

  • Represent the Chamber in a professional manner

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Chamber & Visitor Information Center including staff and volunteers

  • Maintain open communication with the Board and work with the Board in the governance of the Chamber

  • Direct management of programs, membership, marketing, events (Business After Hours, Quarterly luncheons, Community Awards Luncheon, Brewfest, Lander LIVE, etc…)

  • Prepare agenda, financials, director’s report for monthly Board meetings and Executive Board meetings

  • Work with Board to develop goals, objectives and strategies that further the mission of the Chamber

  • Serve as principal spokesperson and ambassador for the Chamber

  • Represent the Chamber at business and community events, meetings, etc

  • Build and maintain partnerships and relationships with organizations & elected officials

  • Serve as the chief liaison with other chambers within the region and state

  • Oversee organization for the Chamber’s annual retreat

  • Work with Executive Board to prepare annual budget and annual retreat

  • Maintain all financial records in QuickBooks with oversight from Treasurer and Board

  • Other duties assigned by the President and Board of Directors

  • Ability to travel within Fremont County weekly (Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record and proof of insurance)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience

  • Public relations/media relations experience

  • Proven leadership & management of people, financial, project & events

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Communication: verbal, written and listening skills; ability to present and persuade; media relations; ability to communicate with a wide variety of individuals at many levels within a community

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Chamber of Commerces, Economic Development, and/or Tourism Industry

  • WCCE or IOM Certification

  • Project Management experience

  • Graphic design experience

  • Magazine publication experience

  • Experience with Chambermaster (membership management software)

  • Sales experience

  • Experience with Quickbooks software

  • Understanding of social media marketing

COMPENSATION: Salary range $40,00-$50,000 for basic qualifications; $50,000-$60,000+ for significant experience. Additional bonus pay possible with high performance. Final compensation commensurate with experience, equal opportunity employer.
