POSITION: Social Worker/Counselor
LOCATION: Lander Valley High School
SALARY: $53,375 minimum (based on 2024-25 salary schedule); full benefits
CONTRACT: Full-time, 185-day contract
START DATE: August 19, 2024

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must hold a certificate issued by the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board with an endorsement as a school social worker or counselor, or candidates may hold professional licensure as a social worker or counselor issued by the Wyoming Board of Mental Health Professionals. Desired characteristics include past successful counseling or social work experience with high school students; ability to work well with at-risk students; ability to provide IEP-required counseling; ability to work well with students in crisis; willingness and ability to collaborate with other school staff, staff from other agencies, and parents to solve problems and implement solutions in response to student issues; background in Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) or willingness to be trained in the program; experience working with students with disabilities, behavior problems, social problems, and high-risk issues; knowledge of conflict resolution/social skills strategies; good human relations skills; good organizational skills; good communication skills (writing and verbally); and willingness to participate on school and District committees and in required inservice activities.

JOB DESCRIPTION: This position will work with the other counselors and social workers, principal, and other staff to implement and manage programs designed for the academic, career, and personal/social development of high school students. The successful candidate will provide individual and group counseling to students; providing counseling services to students per their IEP requirements; and interact with staff and parents in trying to meet students’ needs.
