Dixon\n\nhas served as the site architect and historic preservation consultant for the Capitol reconstruction since\n\n2016.\n\nJoin Mr. Dixon and the Fremont County Historic Preservation Commission for this presentation on\n\nWednesday\, April 17 at 6:30pm in the Fremont County Library Lander Branch. The presentation will\n\nbe held in the Carnegie Room.\n\nA beautiful example of Renaissance Revival architecture\, the Capitol has only undergone one other\n\nmajor renovation before the current project\, which was approved by the Wyoming Legislature in 2014.\n\nMr. Dixon and his team have overseen the big picture restoration work and countless details of this\n\nrenovation and will detail the history of the building and its restoration in a riveting presentation. Any\n\nenthusiasts of Wyoming state government\, Renaissance Revival buildings\, and historic preservation in\n\ngeneral will enjoy this event.\n\nThe Wyoming State Capitol building was built between 1886-1890 the territorial assembly approved\n\nconstruction in 1886 prior to Wyoming statehood. The building houses the chambers for the Wyoming\n\nLegislature's Senate and House of Representatives as well as offices for the Wyoming Governor and\n\nother executive branch elected officials. The Senate and House chambers were added by 1917 and the\n\nfirst renovation of the building was complete in 1980. The Legislature approved funds for the current\n\nrenovation project in 2014. The Capitol has been closed throughout this renovation but will be re-\n\nopened to the public on July 10\, Wyoming Statehood Day.\n\n\n\nThe Capitol was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 and became a National\n\nHistoric Landmark in 1987.
