SUMMARY:Wyoming Legislature Joint Judiciary Committee - Torrington
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of this meeting is to begin the Committee's interim work. The Committee will receive updates from the Wyoming Attorney General's Office\, Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation\, Wyoming Judicial Branch\, Wyoming Clerk of District Courts Association\, Wyoming Office of Homeland Security\, and Wyoming Department of Family Services. The Committee will evaluate the challenges faced by the mineral industry in tracing mineral ownership of severed mineral estates and review recent opinions issued by the Wyoming Supreme Court. Additionally\, the Committee will address fentanyl-related issues in Wyoming\, including trafficking and other associated crimes. The Committee will receive information pertaining to Wyoming's obscenity and stalking laws and study concerns related to theft and organized retail crime. The Committee will study delays in conducting competency evaluations for defendants at the Wyoming State Hospital and review the Wyoming Probate Code. The Committee will tour the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution.\n\n\n\nThe meeting will be held in person in Torrington and remotely with a live video stream available on the Legislature's Website (www.wyoleg.gov). A limited number of participants can sign up to provide public comment virtually for a specified agenda item during the Committee's upcoming meeting. The total amount of time dedicated to virtual public comment is set by the Committee Chairmen per Management Council Policy. Please fill out the public comment form to ensure the Committee knows you intend to provide public comment virtually.
