SUMMARY:Wyoming Legislature Joint 2023 Judiciary
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of this meeting is to continue the Committee's interim work. The Committee will consider bill drafts relating to the Committee's 2023 interim topics\; Judicial Branch topics\, law enforcement issues\, and Department of Corrections Issues. The Committee will review bill drafts regarding the creation of a statewide medical examiner office and rural attorney program. The Committee will also discuss bill drafts pertaining to court and judge security\, Department of Corrections public records processes\, the Interstate Corrections Compact\, and guardians filing for divorce. The Committee will receive updates from the Administrative Office of the Courts and Mental Health and Vulnerable Adult Task Force. The Committee will further consider bill drafts relating to the topics of controlled substance revisions\, sex offender registry requirements\, unsolved murders\, and parental abductions. The Committee will tour the Natrona County Townsend Justice Center and receive a presentation from Dale Quigley\, National Marijuana Initiative Deputy Coordinator.\n\n\n\nThe meeting will be held in person in Casper and remotely with a live video stream available on the Legislature's Website (www.wyoleg.gov). A limited number of participants can sign up to provide public comment virtually for a specified agenda item during the Committee's upcoming meeting. The total amount of time dedicated to virtual public comment is set by the Committee Chairmen per Management Council Policy. Please fill out the public comment form to ensure the Committee knows you intend to provide public comment virtually. Only those who fill out the form to provide public comments virtually and who are e-mailed the Zoom invite from the Legislative Service Office will be permitted into the Zoom meeting to testify.\n\n\n\nIndividuals who plan to provide materials to the Committee during the meeting should provide the materials in electronic format to Committee staff and provide sufficient hard copies for members of the Committee\, Committee staff and interested members of the audience.
